Bulgaria has a large population of Golden Eagle with more than 160 couples living in in the mountains. Our photographic journey is designed to take pictures of these impressive birds of prey in a single stage with are the mountains of the Balkans.
From a distance of 25-35 meters you can photograph their natural behavior: feeding, preening and even mating without disturbing them. In the winter when food is scarce, the eagles visiting the feeding set just in front of the hides.
But in the Balkans, not only we will photograph Golden Eagle. Other species such as the Northern Goshawk, the Long-legged Buzzard and even the Wolf are regular visitors to these places and have great opportunities to photograph.
At the end of winter, the open waters of Kerkini are by far the most important site in Europe for the globally threatened Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus), the undisputed goal of the second part of this photo tour.
The date chosen is the most appropriate as it is when they wear their finery complete reproduction.
